We have to consider Ε, Ρ and Η ίπ
pregnancy as an indicator of an overtaxation of the
body functions by the load
of the gestation. It is a unique opportunity for us to
recognize possible shortcommings of organs
or organ systems. The body
has only Iimited possibilities to show us its overload
of υρ to the pregnancy sufficiant, perhaps only barely
sufficiant organ functions
So post partal examinations are mandatory and an
extremly important part in the care
of pregnant women. |

Since most often we don't know the causes of Ε, Ρ and Η,
and since more invasive investigations are
contraindicated ίπ pregnancy, we are only able to find
out ist causes by thorough check-ups post partum.
These exams should take place two or three months
after the delivery so that all changes due to pregnancy have disappeared. It is
advantageous to establish ίπ hospitals, clinics, maternity centers a special
outpatient department dedicated to the follow-up of gestosis patients. The
investigations should include
cardio-vascular status
renal function (x-rays. nephrograms, renal biopsy etc.)
Hormonal assays ( Diabetes, Hyperthyroidism, Phaeochromocytoma etc.)
Liver function ( Liver biopsy etc. )
Search for renal
cardiac
vascular
malformations
uterine
Dietary habits
Psychological condition
Socio-economic status
Βy these efforts we will be able to diagnose the
underlying, preexisting cause
( casuses) of Ε. Ρ and Η.
We might be able to correct or treat the discovered condition and prevent
ΕΡΗ - Gestosis in the next pregnancy.
Aiso we are able to predict diseases which appear ίπ Iater years such as
Diabetes
Renal insufficiency
Hepatic insufficciency
Cardio-vascular disease
Iike Hypertension Cerebro-vascular accident
and bevare the patient of her otherwise unexpected and unavoidable fate
