Ιπ the Anglo-American literature alone, used also by other Anglo-Americo-phile countries (Scandinavia, Germany, South Africa) are close to 1 00 names af this syndrome to be found. This Ieads to confusion, missunderstanding and prevents comparison of results and therewith progress ίπ research.

Discussion of those names

4. Toxemia, Toxicosis.
Never a toxic substance could be isolated responsible for all cases of ΕΡΗ -Getosis, not even for some of the cases (Decision : Το be dropped)
5. Preeclampsia
Ιπ the Anglo-American Iiterature:Αll cases with hypertension and proteinuria, sometimes also with edema are being labeled as preeclampsia. This term was described as misnomer and recomended to be dropped.
In the German Iiterature it describes the condition immediately before the eclamptic seizure (Eclampsia imminens. ΕΙ ).(Decision Το be dropped)
6. Hypertension
Hypertension has many causes (cardia, renal, endocrinal, malformations, psychological)
The readings depend on many factors (position of the patient, condition of patient as well as doctor Οr who ever takes the blood pressure, time of the day, equippment and its instruction and use, state of knowledge etc..)In underpriviledged areas a blood pressure apparatus, a stethoscope and the instruction how to use both might be a Iuxury unheared of. The readings of blood pressure have been vastly ονer estimated (Decision :Το be dropped)
4. Complicated names,
like Trophoblastic nephrovasculopathy
Οr Choriogenic Nephropathy
Οr Vasculo Chorionic Nephrosis
Οr Oedemo-nephrotisch-hypertensiver Symptomencomplex
might be convincing for their inventors but would never be accepterd generally (Decision: Το be dropped)
4. Eclampsia
is the easiest condition to be identified. It is always connected with tonic- clonic convulsions ( Convulsive eclampsia, Eclampsia convulsiva. EC) We know about the very rare cases of silent eclampsia  .(Decision: Το be considered)
5. Impending or Imminent Eclamspsia,(EI) .similarely is easy to detect. It can very well be separated from other forms of ΕΡΗ -Gestosis by the signs and symptoms the patient shows. It is especially important a condition because it enables us to recognize the danger of a seizure to develop. This next step to Convulsive Eclampsia can be prevented ( Decision: Το be considered)
6. Gestosis.
This is actually the correct name. It indicates that we are dealing with a pregnancyJ a Gestation (Gest... ) which shows an abnormal course (... osis). And if this disturbed pregnancy shows the signs and symptoms of EdemaJ and / or Proteinuria and / or Hypertension then it is an ΕΡΗ -Gestosis which we may subdivide in several groups:
Ε, Ε ,P -  monosymptomatic cases
ΕP,EH, PH, EPH -  polysymptomatic cases

This name is just descriptive. It does not imply causes, prognosis, underlying disease or therapy. And also it does not Iable this complication as one single disease but as a syndrome of which we should search for its cause (causes)
That's why we call this syndrome EPH-Gestosis
